Nationally acclaimed chalk artist, Joseph Dunbar was born and raised in the Great Pacific Northwest. He spent his childhood exploring the creeks, streams, old logging roads, and railroad tracks that ran thru the wooded hills and mountains from Shelton, Washington to Prairie City, Oregon. On weekends he would fish for steelhead trout or trek thru the forests of the Olympic Mountains in search of wild life. The area supplied an endless
amount of beautiful landscape that was an ever changing pallet of color, texture, aroma and reflection, and became the match that lit the flame
of Joseph's artistic passions.
In 1999 Joe won a National Art Competition through The Upperdeck Baseball Card Company with his portrait of Chicago White Sox Great, Frank Thomas, which was printed into an official UD Baseball Card in the "MVP Series 2000" as it's first card in the set and sold nationally in randomly selected packs of cards.
Joe has since then linked up with several Professional Christian Athletes that include; Seattle Seahawks Jon Kitna, who was the starting quarterback at the time, along with a portrait of the late golf great PGA Master's Champion, Payne Stewart, that would raise monies for local charities. and most recently that of Future Hall of Famer, Masters Champion, the Great Fred Couples
A year later, Joseph sought the guidance of Ding Teuling, known by many to be the greatest chalk artist in American history. Ding provided the coaching and teaching Joseph needed to fine tune his craft, and to start creating live chalk art performances that would become the cornerstone of Patriotic Impressions.
